Important safety information including dosage, side effects, and precautions of Marxtop-F.
Dosage & Administration
Apply approximately 1 mL to a dry scalp once daily (about 6–8 sprays or one full dropper).
After applying, gently massage the solution with your fingers and allow it to air dry. Do not use a hair dryer directly on the treated area.
If prescribed together with oral Minoxidil or Finasteride, follow your doctor’s instructions and take each medication separately.
If you forget to apply, use one dose as soon as you remember. Do not apply two doses at once to make up for a missed application.
Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dosage and frequency. Do not adjust the dose on your own.
Side Effects
The following side effects may occur. Most are mild and decrease over time, but discontinue use and seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen.
・Local scalp reactions (common): itching, irritation, redness, contact dermatitis, dryness, increased dandruff
・Effects on hair/skin: excessive hair growth on unwanted areas (rare)
・Systemic symptoms (rare): headache, dizziness, palpitations, increased heart rate, swelling of hands or feet
・Effects on sexual function (much less frequent than oral medications): changes in libido, erectile dysfunction (topical absorption is low, so frequency is rare)
Precautions
This is a topical medication. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, or broken/inflamed skin.
Contains Finasteride; women (especially pregnant or breastfeeding) and children should not use. If pregnant women come into contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
Do not use if you have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to any ingredient.
Inform your doctor if you plan to undergo prostate cancer screening, as Finasteride may affect PSA levels.
Consult your doctor if you are taking other medications. Always inform other healthcare providers that you are using this product.
In case of severe side effects or emergencies, stop use immediately and seek medical care.
Approval status in Japan
Topical Minoxidil is approved in Japan for the treatment of AGA (male pattern hair loss).
Oral Finasteride (1 mg) was approved in Japan in 2005 for AGA treatment.
Marxtop-F (Minoxidil & Finasteride topical solution) is a prescription-only formulation under a physician’s guidance.
