    Dosage & Administration

    ・Take the medication once a week on the same day each week, regardless of meal timing.


    ・If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible if within 5 days (48 hours before your next dose planned or earlier). If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day.


    ・If a dose is missed, do not increase the dosage for the following dose.


    ・You can start from 0.25mg per week, and increase to 0.5mg, and 1.0mg, if needed.

    Side Effects

    While side effects typically improve on their own, if you notice any unusual symptoms, it's important to take appropriate action, such as stopping the medication and seeking medical treatment.


    The following side effects may occur:

    ・Gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), hypoglycemia*1, acute pancreatitis, among others.


    *1: Symptoms of hypoglycemia include weakness, fatigue, intense hunger, cold sweats, pallor, palpitations, tremors, headache, dizziness, nausea, and visual changes.

    Precautions

    ・Do not use if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, breastfeeding, or within 3 months postpartum.


    ・Consult your doctor if you are taking other medications.


    ・In case of emergency, such as the appearance of serious side effects, stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention at the nearest medical institution.


    ・When storing unused Ozempic, it is recommended to keep it in the refrigerator to avoid sudden temperature changes. Use within 8 weeks after start of use.

    Approval status in Japan

    ・In Japan, Ozempic is approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.


    ・Prescription for other purposes, such as the treatment of obesity, is not approved in Japan.
